Kia Niro: Seat Belt System / Pretensioner (BPT) / Repair procedures

Removal
1.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal, and wait for at least three minutes before beginning to work.

2.

Remove the front seat belt anchor (A).

3.

Remove the door scurff trim.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Door scuff trim")

4.

Remove the center pillar trim.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Center pillar trim)

5.

Unscrew the top of the seat belt anchor bolts (A).

Tightening torque:

39.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 - 39.8 lb-ft)

6.

It separates the seat belt pre-tensioner connector (A).

7.

Loosen the safety belt pretensioner mounting bolt (A, B) and remove the safety belt pretensioners.

Tightening torque

(A):7.8 -11.8 N.m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.8-11.8 lb-ft)

(B):39.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.0 - 5.5 kgf.m,28.9 - 39.8 lb-ft)

Installation
1.

Install in the reverse order of remova.l.

2.

After replacing the safety belt pretensioners must ensure that the system is operating normally.

  

Turn the ignition switch ON; the SRS indicator light should be turned on for about six seconds and then go off
