Removal

The side airbag cannot be disassembled from the seat back assembly, so replace the seat back assembly when replacing the side airbag.

1.	Disconnect the battery negative terminal, and wait for at least three minutes before beginning to work.

2.	Remove the front seat assembly. (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Front seat assembly")

3.	Remove the seat back assembly. (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Front seat back cover")

Loosen the side air bag module nuts and then remove the air back module.

Tightening torque:

6.0 - 8.0 N.m (0.6 - 0.8 kgf.m, 4.4 - 5.8 lb-ft)

Installation

1.	Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for at least three minutes before beginning to work.

Install the air back module and then tightening the side air bag module nuts.

Tightening torque :

6.9 - 8.8 N.m (0.6 - 0.8 kgf.m, 5.1 - 6.5 lb·ft)

Improper mounting of the front seat back cover, so interfering with the normal deployment of side airbags and front seat backrest ensure that the cover is well seated.

3.	Install the seat back assembly. (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Front seat back cover")

4.	Install the front seat assembly. (Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Front seat assembly")

5.	Reconnect the battery negative terminal.

6.	After installing the side airbag (PAB), confirm proper system operation: • Turn the ignition switch ON; the SRS indicator light should be turned on for about six seconds and then go off.
