Kia Niro: Rear Axle Assembly / Rear Hub - Carrier / Repair procedures

Removal
1.

Remove the tire (A).

Tightening torque :

107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)

  

Be careful not to damage the wheel nuts when removing the wheel and tire.

2.

Disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector (A).

3.

Remove the parking brake calbe pin (A).

4.

Rotates the nut (A) in the counterclockwise direction and then remove the parking cable.

5.

Remove the rear brake caliper.

(Refer to Brake System - "Rear Disc Brake")

6.

Remove the rear lower arm and assist arm bolt (A).

Tightening torque :

137.3 - 156.9 N·m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)

7.

Remove the rear upper arm bolt (A).

Tightening torque :

137.3 - 156.9 N·m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)

8.

Remove the trailing arm nuts (A).

Tightening torque :

137.3 - 156.9 N·m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf.m, 101.3 - 115.7 lb-ft)

9.

Remove the rear axle.

10.

Check the wheel alignment.

Disassembly
1.

Remove the hub bolts (A).

Tightening torque :

88.2 - 107.8 N·m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf·m, 65.0 - 79.5 lb·ft)

2.

Remove the rear disc screw (A).

Tightening torque :

4.9 - 5.8 N·m (0.5 - 0.6 kgf·m, 3.6 - 4.3 Ib·ft)

3.

Remove the dust cover bolts (A).

Tightening torque :

6.8 - 10.7 N·m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf·m, 5.0 - 7.9 lb·ft)

Inspection
1.

Check the hub for cracks and the splines for wear.

2.

Check the rear axle carrier for cracks.
