Kia Niro 2017 (DE HEV) Service Manual / Restraint / Airbag Module / Passenger Airbag (PAB) Module Repair procedures

Removal
1.

Disconnect the battery negative terminal, and wait for at least three minutes before beginning to work.

2.

Remove the glove box assembly.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Glove box housing")

3.

Remove the PAB mounting bolts.

Tightening torque:

8.8 - 10.8 N.m (0.9 - 1.1 kgf.m, 6.5 - 8.0 lb-ft)

4.

Disconnect the passenger airbag connector (A).

5.

Remove the main crash pad.

(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Main crash pad assembly")

  

If the PAB has been deployed, replace the damaged crash pad.

6.

Loosen the Passenger airbag module mounting bolts (2) Remove the passenger airbag module.

Tightening torque:

3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m,2.8 - 4. 3 lb-ft)

  

Remove the air bag modules are placed so that the airbag cover side facing up

Installation
1.

Install in the reverse order of removal

2.

After installing the airbag module, ensure that the airbag system is operating normally.

  

Turn the ignition switch ON; the SRS indicator light should be turned on for about six seconds and then go off
